As part of the build-up program for the 115th National Day, the Dzongkhag Heath Sector conducted Non-Communicable Disease screening at Tendrel Thang in Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde.
According to the WHO report (2022), non-communicable diseases (NCDs) kill 41 million people each year, equivalent to 74% of all deaths globally. Each year, 17 million people die from an NCD before age 70; 86% of these premature deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries.
As a response to this, in a small way, the health sector initiated screening to help people from NCD through prevention and treatment.
As Denis Waitley says, “Time and health are two precious assets that we don’t recognize and appreciate until they have been depleted”, the Dzongkhag Health sector ensures that these precious assets are recognized and appreciated.
