The distribution of the Lumpyvac vaccine, specifically designed to counter the disease, has begun following an inaugural ceremony commencing on August 23, 2023. The National Centre for Animal Health (NCAH) conducted the nationwide distribution on August 21, 2023.
With a total of 567 reported cases of lumpy skin disease within the Dzongkhag as of August 20, 2023, and a death count of 59, this vaccination drive comes as a crucial effort to curtail the disease's spread.
The Dzongkhag veterinary teams are working hand in hand with community leaders to ensure the seamless dissemination of the vaccine across various gewogs.
