Planning and Economic Development
The Economic Development Sector of Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag Administration promotes sustainable economic growth by supporting local businesses, enhancing employment opportunities, and improving livelihoods. The sector focuses on fostering entrepreneurship, facilitating market access, and implementing initiatives that drive long-term economic resilience and prosperity within the Dzongkhag.
Mandates:
1. Lead and coordinate overall plans for the Dzongkhag in coordination with OCASC, Cabinet Secretariat and Economic Cluster Central Agencies.
2. Provide economic development advice and develop an economic road map, branding and strategic line of sight for the Dzongkhag.
3. Coordinate, guide and implement the Dzongkhag’s Strategic Economic plan and Road map, provide strategic guidance to the LGs and GAOs and build a vibrant economic hub in Dzongkhag.
4. Recommend projects and programs that contribute to the enhancement of overall economic development of the Dzongkhag.
5. Coordinate and ensure efficient allocation and utilization of the resources and delivery of the Dzongkhag Key Result Areas and Key Performance Indicators.
6. Create and promote economic activities, job creation and income enhancement in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the Dzongkhag.
7. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of economic development policies, plans and programs, ensuring that they meet intended socio-economic objectives.
8. Promote tourism and other economic activities in the Dzongkhag.
9. Collection, validation, publication and dissemination of all official statistics at the Dzongkhag level including SDG data.
