In a remarkable display of community collaboration and support for local farmers, the Dzongkhag Administration, in partnership with the RAMCO office in Mongar and Serthi Gewog, successfully facilitated the marketing of surplus buckwheat from Serthi Gewog to Shaoulee Food Products in Thimphu last week.
The RAMCO office played a crucial role by establishing the linkage between the local farmers and the buyer, while the Officiating Agriculture Extension Officer assisted with the collection of surplus buckwheat at the Gewog Center. Demonstrating a strong commitment to the local agricultural community, the Dzongkhag Administration provided one-time DCM support to transport the surplus buckwheat to Thimphu. Shaoulee Food Products further contributed by covering the fuel and TADA (Travel and Daily Allowance) for the driver, in addition to purchasing the buckwheat from the farmers.
This collaborative effort not only ensured that the surplus buckwheat found a profitable market but also paved the way for future sustainable marketing opportunities. The Dzongkhag Administration is eager to formalize an agreement between all parties to secure long-term marketing solutions for the farmers of Serthi Gewog.
The Dzongkhag Administration extends heartfelt gratitude to all partners involved in this successful initiative. Their collective efforts have significantly benefited the local farming community, and the administration looks forward to continued cooperation in future endeavors.
