A crucial post-harvest training aimed at ensuring the supply of high-quality vegetables to the Gyalsung Academy successfully began today at the Gewog GT Hall in Phuntshothang.
Organised by the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC), the Regional Agricultural Marketing and Cooperative Office (RAMCO), the National Post Harvest Centre, and the Dzongkhag Administration, the training focuses on improving post-harvest management practices. Farmers are being trained on techniques to maintain freshness, reduce losses, and enhance the overall quality of their produce.
A total of 22 participants attended the first day of the two-day programme. The training follows recommendations made after a recent assessment of farmers’ produce, which highlighted the need for better handling and quality management.
Officials say the initiative will help farmers meet the academy’s standards more effectively, ensuring a consistent supply of fresh and high-quality vegetables. The programme will continue tomorrow with further practical sessions and expert guidance.
