In a ceremony coinciding with the 33rd birth anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen, Ashi Jetsuen Pema Wangchuck, the formal handing-over of the Omshari Landmark Irrigation Project took place, signifying a significant milestone for the local communities.

Presided over by His Excellency, Lyonpo Yeshey Penjor, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Prashant Kumar Das, Consul General of India, Phuentsholing, the event was attended by local government heads and community members.

The Omshari Landmark Irrigation Project, located in Pemathang Gewog, Samdrup Jongkhar, was launched on November 11, 2022, at a cost of Nu. 95.00 million. With the completion of this project, a total of 384 households in the area are set to benefit from improved access to irrigation facilities.

The Omshari Landmark Irrigation Project is expected to address the water needs of farmers, allowing them to cultivate their lands throughout the year and enhance agricultural production. It will also contribute to poverty alleviation and food security in the region.

The project's impact is expected to resonate for years to come, bringing prosperity and improved livelihoods to the residents of Pemathang Gewog, Samdrup Jongkhar.
