Today, the Dzongkhag marked the birth anniversary of the third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, by offering prayers and lighting butter lamps at Dratsang. The ceremony was headed by Dasho Dzongdag and was attended by sector heads from regional offices in Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag.
In addition to the commemoration of the birth anniversary of the third king, schools under Samdrup Jongkhar also celebrated Teacher's Day. The day was marked to honor and recognize teachers' hard work and dedication in shaping the future of Bhutan.
The celebration of Teacher's Day on the same day as the birth anniversary of the third king serves as a reminder of the vital connection between education and nation-building in Bhutan.
