A two-day seminar on managing road slope disasters commenced today in Samdrup Jongkhar, graced by the Dzongdag and attended by engineers from the Thromde, Regional Office of the Department of Surface Transport, and Dzongkhag.
The event, part of a dissemination initiative under the recently concluded Capacity Development on Counter measures of Slope Disaster on Roads in Bhutan project, focuses on equipping local engineers with advanced tools and practices to mitigate slope failures.
Key topics include preemptive traffic control, bio-engineering techniques, updated slope standards, and debris flow management. Tailored for Samdrup Jongkhar's unique challenges, the seminar aims to strengthen road safety and connectivity, supporting Bhutan’s sustainable development goals.
